Installation and Setup

NOTE
The Autodesk integration needs to be enabled at the account level before it can be configured for individual projects.
Sign up for the beta at https://www.cxalloy.com/acc-integration/.

The Autodesk integration syncs issues between a project in CxAlloy and a project in Autodesk.

Autodesk Installation - Custom Integrations

Before connecting to an Autodesk project, CxAlloy's custom integration needs to be installed in the Autodesk account. As an Autodesk hub admin, navigate to the hub's "Custom integrations" page and add a new custom integration.

Enter "S4kmWMGJVWAKmjpg8eybbWUi96KFS8WVE0wvQTZ13dTHMBus" for the Autodesk Platform Services Client ID.

Autodesk Project Settings

The user setting up the integration needs to be in the Autodesk project's Members list for it to appear later on in the configuration process when connecting from CxAlloy.

The relevant Issue categories and types will also need to be set as Active for the Autodesk project. Switch to Build, then select the Issues tab. From the Issues page, click the Settings dropdown and select Types.

The integration will map to the specified Issue Type in Autodesk. Set the desired Type is Active prior to configuring the integration.

NOTE
The Design Category and Type are used to test the connection, so they also need to be set as active even if they are not mapped to during the integration setup.

CxAlloy Setup

Navigate to the CxAlloy project's Settings page, switch to the Autodesk integration tab, and press the Connect to Autodesk button.

The connecting user will be redirected to an authorization page. If they are not logged into Autodesk, they will be prompted to sign in first.

After authorizing the application, the user will be prompted to select an Autodesk project and which issue phases to sync.

Issues created in CxAlloy will be created under the selected Autodesk Issue Type. Issue status updates in CxAlloy will map to the selected Issue status in Autodesk.

When an Autodesk issue's status update is synced, it will map to the selected status in CxAlloy.

NOTE
The integration creates a dummy user in CxAlloy to use for syncing. Removing this user has no effect on the integration.

Issue Syncing

Issues created in the CxAlloy project are synced to the Autodesk project. A link to the corresponding issue in Autodesk can be found from the issue's Integrations subsection on the list or detail views.

The name, due date, and description are copied directly, and the status and type are mapped according to the integration's settings. Additional details are appended to the issue description, including the name of the project in CxAlloy, the associated asset, the assigned party, the author, and a link to the original issue in CxAlloy.

Changes from CxAlloy are synced to Autodesk every few minutes. Changes from Autodesk are synced to CxAlloy instantaneously.

NOTE
Autodesk's API does not include an endpoint for deleting issues, so issue deletions from CxAlloy will unpublish the corresponding issue in Autodesk instead.
Deleting an issue in Autodesk will not effect the corresponding issue in CxAlloy.
